Reader
Enve has a real ebook + comic reader, not a wrapper around a webview. It's powered by the Readium toolkit on both iOS and Android.
Formats
- EPUB (including Readium LCP-encrypted EPUBs)
- Comics: CBZ, CBR, auto-detected reading direction, plus scroll / LTR / RTL layouts
- Kindle KF8 / AZW3, converted on import (DRM-free only)
DRM
Enve supports Readium LCP for legitimately licensed EPUBs. It does not support Adobe ADEPT (.acsm) or Kindle DRM. DRM-protected Kindle files are rejected on import.
Text-to-speech
Built-in TTS for any ebook, using your downloaded system voices. Configurable per book, so you can pick a different voice for fiction and nonfiction. Works alongside StoryAlign when narration data is available.
StoryAlign iOS 26+
StoryAlign is Enve's word-by-word narration sync. It pairs an EPUB with its audiobook narration and highlights words as they're spoken, using real narration audio rather than synthetic TTS.
- Works automatically with Storyteller-aligned books.
- Pairs your existing EPUBs and audiobooks when alignment data is available.
- Falls back gracefully to ordinary reading when no alignment exists.
Highlights and annotations
Tap-and-hold to highlight. Add notes to any highlight. Export as Markdown. The format drops straight into Obsidian or any text editor:
- Per-book Markdown file.
- Highlights with chapter and location.
- Bookmarks (audiobook and ebook).
- Audiobook notes are included in the same export.
Vocabulary and Anki
Tap any word to define it. Tap "Save" and Enve records:
- The word.
- The definition.
- The surrounding sentence (for context on flashcards).
Study with the built-in flashcard mode, or export to Anki when you're ready for the real spaced-repetition treatment.
Customization
Fonts, type size, line spacing, page margins, justification, hyphenation, themes (Sepia, Night, OLED Black), page-turn behavior (tap, swipe, scroll), and on iOS, system-aware Dynamic Type support. Per-book overrides are saved, so each title can have its own look.
